Who knows their current level of legal exposure?

When was the last time you checked out your company policies and procedures to see if they are legally compliant? We estimate that over 20 million cases arise each year across the European Union where an employee has a legitimate grievance. Only a small proportion of these reach the courts. Most of them are dealt with through out-of-court financial compensation of some kind.

In many cases involving unfair dismissal, working time violations or discrimination, the fault lies with the conduct of a manager or actions of colleagues which have not been investigated or disciplined. But in around one third of cases the problem lies with inaccurate, vague or out-of-date policies and procedures. Those of us who own cars like to keep them regularly serviced – but few companies have a lawyer checking their documentation and practices for compliance on a regular basis. In fact, if policies and procedures are sound in the first place, regular reviews can be a simple and relatively inexpensive way to avoid future claims and potential litigation.

If you would like our legal services team to arrange a review of your policies and procedures, please call Sarah on 01749 677817.
