UK: Companies dash for deadline

80.1% of companies required to undertake gender pay reporting have hit the April deadline. In the 44 private sector companies with 20,000 + employees the median hourly pay gap between men and women was just 5.1%. The biggest gaps were almost wholly in the banking sector with Lloyds bank (an hourly median gap of 42.7%) leading the way. Some (often retail) companies report total gender parity for median pay levels – but we suspect that this reflects the formal harmonisation of hourly rates rather than any comparative measure of payments actually made.
