Recent amendments to the Russian Labour Code have introduced rules for the implementation of professional standards in a number of professions in Russia. These amendments will come into force on July 1st 2016. The introduction of professional standards will require workers to posses certain skills or qualifications before they may carry out a particular role. Where legislation states that these professional standards are mandatory, a job may not be performed unless all the criteria of the professional standard are fulfilled. In all other cases, professional standards should be used by employers as a basis for determining the requirements for the job.
