Irish Republic: Tax-free non-cash benefit allowance doubled in time for Christmas

The maximum value of a single non-cash benefit (or voucher) that may be paid to employees in Ireland each year free from tax has been doubled from 250 euros (265 US dollars) to 500 euros (530 US dollars). The measure, which otherwise would have taken effect from January 1st 2016, has been backdated to apply from October 22nd 2015 (the date of the publication of the Finance Bill) so that employees may benefit from the change this Christmas.
