2021 is the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour. This year the number of children forced to work globally has grown to 160 million, with over half of them aged 5-11 years. Multinational companies could do a great deal more to eliminate the problem, by enforcing labour standards within their supply chains. Governments too could enforce established laws to prevent children having to work improving educational provision and requiring parents to send children to school.
